Ronda Rousey to challenge Nia Jax

NEW YORK CITY — Nia Jax shockingly named Ronda Rousey as her next challenger for the Raw Women’s Championship this morning at the NBCUniversal Upfront in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.

The Irresistible Force revealed she wants to put her title on the line against Rousey at WWE Money in the Bank, much to the surprise of The Baddest Woman on the Planet. Never one to back down from either a challenge or an opportunity, a bewildered Rousey agreed to the match.

This will be Rousey’s first title opportunity since joining WWE earlier this year. When we last saw her compete on WWE TV, she teamed with Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to defeat Stephanie McMahon and Triple H in a Mixed Tag Team Match at WrestleMania.

So – while we will get to the prediction side of things nearer the time, we here at the Squared Circle are disappointed that this match was made with so little fanfare, a simple wish for a certain challenger and the match is made.

No number one contendership needed, no epic storyline build-up, no underdog momentum – it was simply – I want, give me the opponent I want and she got it and that’s bad business.

The problem is that while unheard superstars come to the WWE, make a name for themselves before going into the big, bad world – with Rousey it’s the other way round, she’s already a huge name and we fear that the WWE could end up damaging her reputation with bad storylines, cheap matches and building her up to be O.P as fuck, where no one on the roaster seems like a legit challenger to any title she holds.
