WWE Pay Per View Classics

Thought out the history of the WWE the fans have come to wittiness many evolutionarily moments, superstars have come and gone… main event players taken though injury others though retirement and then there are those who were cut down in their prime…

Championships that have stood for decades, held by true champions gone as new championships took their place…Matches that have always been there…replaced of those of high danger levels with riskier moves…

So each week we take a look back at the past pay per views and show the results of some of the most incredible rivalries on some of the greatest stages in some of the most beautiful arenas around the world…

(The above post will always stay the same but for each post the following of course will be different)

We start with a pay per view that brought one of the most dangerous and exciting new matches ever to grace the ring (not much grace inside the ring but hey) and never before this pay per view had so many championships changed hands…

We start with the WWE 2002 Survivor Series… hosted in one of, if not the most famous arena the WWE has ever had the honor to perform in…Madison Square Garden…

Six person tag team table match: Jeff Hardy, Bubba Ray & Spike Dudley Def. 3-Minute Warning & Rico.

This would be an elimination style match, guaranteeing at least five tables would be broken and it would not disappoint as Spike Dudley would become the first to be sent to the back as he would be double teamed my 3-Minute Warning…

But payback would come in the form of 3 Minute Warning’s member Rosie being forced to catch Jeff Hardy as he swan dived his bigger opponent though the table…

But Rosie’s large partner Jamal would get revenge splashing Hardy though a table from the top rope only to be eliminated by Bubba Ray Dudley shortly after by a power bomb from the top rope…

As it would come down to Bubba Ray and Rico, 3 minute Warning would return to try to help Rico win thus the crowd would go nuts as Bubba’s half-brother D’von from the Smack-Down brand would come to his brothers aid quickly dispatching Rosie & Jamal and hitting Rico with a Dudley 3-D though a table to win the match…

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Billy Kidman Def. Cruiserweight Champion Jamie Noble to become the new Cruiserweight Champion.

The third time would indeed be the charm for Billy Kidman as he had already claimed two non-titled victories over the champion and on the night a victory would matter the most during a fast paced match Billy Kidman would hit his shooting star press for a third straight victory to become the new Cruiserweight champion.

Woman’s Championship Hardcore Match: Victoria Def. Woman’s Champion Trish Stratus to become the new woman’s champion.

With every weapon available to be used in this match from trash cans to fire extinguishers, it would be the latter of the two that would be the champion’s downfall and with a snap suplex Victoria would claim the victory.

WWE Championship Match: the Big Show Def. WWE Champion Brock Lesnar to become the new WWE Champion.

3 questions would be asked of the youngest champion in WWE History could Brock Lesnar suplex the Big Show, could Brock Lesnar F-5 the Big Show and could Brock Lesnar beat the Big Show?

And it would be Lesnar’s own manager Paul Hayman’s betrayal and a choke slam on a steel chair that would see only 2 of the 3 questions answered as Lesnar supplexed the Big Show and followed it up with a 500 pound F-5, and thanks to his manager who would see the Big Show leave Champion.

Triple Threat Elimination WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Eddie & Chavo Guerrero Def. Kurt Angel & Chris Benoit and WWE Tag Team Champions Edge & Ray Mysterio to become new Tag Team Champions.

Angel & Benoit would lose the titles in their first title defense and the irony would not be lost as Edge & Mysterio would suffer the same fate as this would be their first pay per view title defense and would successful see off the team they won the titles from in a 2-out-3 falls match on smack-down as angel & Benoit would be the first to be eliminated…But for the Guerrero family who would not be denied as they would go on to defeat the champions

Elimination World Heavyweight Championship Match: Shawn Michaels Def. Triple H, Chris Jericho, Kane, Booker T and Rob Van Dam to survive the first-ever Elimination Chamber Match and to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

In a match that would inspire its own pay per view Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Kane and Booker T would find themselves locked into their respective chambers as Triple H and Rob Van Dam would start the match…

The tale of the story would start early as Triple H would be busted upon within the first five minutes of the match and Chris Jericho would be the third entry into the ring and the first out of his separate chamber…

But it would be when Booker T joined the fray that Rob Van Dam would injure Triple H and himself to be the first eliminated by the five time world champion…

Booker T would fail to get rid of Jericho as the countdown expired allowing Kane to enter the ring as the biggest man in the match Kane would dominate, using Jericho as a javelin more than once, even throwing him though the wall of the separated pods busting him open but Jericho would rail back to eliminate Booker T and would end up eliminating Kane after Triple H’s Pedigree and Michaels sweet chin music.

As the remaining three men bleeding badly it would continue much like a handicap match with Triple H & Jericho teaming up against Michaels but in such an environment it was every man for himself and such team work broke down quickly and as the walls of Jericho was locked in on Triple H, Michaels took the opportunity to deliver sweet chin music to eliminate Jericho…

From old friends and bitter enemies it came down to the co-founders of D-Generation-X as Triple H and Shawn Michaels would be the final two, irony was again not lost as the last to leave his separate chamber would face the first person to start the match but all credit must go to the defending champion as he competed the full length of the match whilst injured by his opening opponent of Rob Van Dam

But Shawn Michaels would not be denied as Michaels would get the final pin fall to close this classic match and become the world heavyweight champion.

Thus closes the classic file of Survivor Series 2002 a pay per view that saw five titles defended and every one of them changing hands in one of the greatest Madison Square Garden events in history…

Been a fan of the WWE since 2000, watched a few from the early years online, wasn’t a fan of where the “Powers that be” were taking the company but it has gotten better with the brand split, I thought that it was a format that worked
